Application for DAAD scholarship for the 2025 Intake is closed

Application is now open only for self-finance and other scholarships for the 2025 Intake. Check the application deadlines.

Application is accepted online only (please go through the following instructions to get the application link)

Before you fill in the online application form:

Have the following information ready as well as your documents mentioned below in ONE PDF:

  • Start- and End-Date of your bachelor degree
  • Information on grading system (best, lowest grade to pass)
  • Date and result of language test
  • Details about your work experience (start and end date of job)
  • For DAAD applicants: the DAAD-website explaining which documents have to be submitted for an application to a scholarship for an EPOS degree programme can be found here
  • For self-finance applicants: Please send all documents mentioned below without the DAAD application form and checklist (start with number 2) in the order mentioned below

The following documents have to be uploaded at the end of the online application form in one pdf in the following order (self-financing students start with bullet point 2):

  1. For DAAD scholarship only: DAAD application form and DAAD checklist, wet signed (no digital signature!).
  2. Personally signed Curriculum Vitae in Europass format with current date. (use the template provided on this website)
  3. Bachelor-certificate (or equivalent university degree) of a study of 4-years duration in engineering (certified / notarized copy) in English translation
  4. Transcripts/Records of the study of 4-years duration with information about the grading system (certified / notarized copy) in English translation
  5. Personally signed Letter of Motivation (approx. 1000 words) explaining your personal expectations and motivation to study Sustainable Energy and Development. Reference to current occupation and choice of postgraduate programme(s) with current date.
  6. Written proof of 2-years work experience, with letterhead, stamp and original (wet) signature! (Internships DO NOT fulfill that requirement)
  7. 2 Recommendations with letterhead, stamp, date and original (wet) signature (1 professional and 1 academic)!
  8. Language proof: TOEFL iBT (minimum score: 80), IELTS (minimum Band 6 in all categories) or Cambridge FCE. Note: A certificate that English was language of instruction is not sufficient for admission. Native speakers of English are exempted

IMPORTANT: Make sure to rename the ONE PDF in the following format: <first two letters of your country of nationality><8 digit date of birth><first letter of your family name><first letter of your first name>

  • Example 1: If Lasith Malinga's nationality is Sri Lanka, and date of birth is 29 February 1996, the file name will be SR29021996ML
  • Example 2: If Pablo García Acosta's nationality is Mexico, and date of birth is 29 February 2000, the file name will be ME29022000AP

Please note that we can ONLY accept PDF format and that the size should not exceed 10 MB. There is no need to send the documents in hard copy. Please also DO NOT send your documents in addition via e-mail!

Write all extra information in the comments field, e.g., if you are missing a document and why. Please write information about why you are a good candidate for the programme in your motivation letter and NOT in the comments field! However, if you have a problem with the form itself, please contact the admission team via admission-sedev@uni-flensburg.de

If your application is shortlisted, we will conduct an online interview with you as follows:

  • For DAAD Scholarship applicants: The interview will be conducted in December, the year before the course begins. You will be informed of the results by the end of January.
  • For Self-financing applicants: The interview is scheduled for February, the year the course begins. You will be informed of the results by the end of March.

Please note that an interview does not guarantee admission; it is a part of the admission process.

Pre-arrival deposits for semester fees, accommodation and International Class

  1. Please be aware that if you are selected for admission, you must transfer a deposit of 950 € to the University's account before travelling to Germany. This deposit will be used for dorm accommodation for September, a housing deposit, and university registration fees. Any remaining balance will be reimbursed after arrival.
  2. Also, be aware that if you are selected for admission, you will have to transfer an additional deposit for the International Class and excursions to the University's account before travelling to Germany. For students awarded the DAAD scholarship, this deposit is 1,200 €. For students who are self-financing or receiving other scholarships, the deposit is 1,800 €.
  • Total pre-arrival deposit for a DAAD Scholarship student is about 2150 Euro
  • Total pre-arrival deposit for a self-finance and other scholarship student is about about 2750 Euro
