CREST Research

Our inter- and transdisciplinary research center CREST combines the scientific expertise of the university to meet the challenges of a world in which the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, social and economic inequality and supply conflicts are progressing and social transformations are necessary.

The new center examines the social, economic and ecological dimensions, causes and consequences of current crises in connection with food security, raw material conflicts and ongoing transformations such as the energy or mobility transition as well as social organization, subjective well-being, participation and justice, dignity and health and (trans)humanism in a problem-, process- and solution-oriented and practical way.
"We look at different levels: From individual human needs to regional supply structures and planetary boundaries." (Director Prof. Dr. Sybille Bauriedl).
