Bachelor and master theses
Dear students,
the creation of scientific work requires diligence and compliance with certain rules. You can find formal regulations in the examination regulations for your degree program (PO M.A. IMS, § 20, PO B.A. IM, §18, PO B.A. IM, §25). This declaration of commitment must be signed and attached to each work. However, the preliminary considerations for your thesis will also raise questions that you cannot clarify by researching the formal requirements.
If you would like to write your thesis at our professorship, please read the following answers to frequently asked questions.
Yes and no. Think about a topic that interests you from the field of human resources and organizational research, as the professorship does not usually allocate ready-made topics. A specification of this first idea for a topic then takes place in cooperation with your supervisor. More specific work and research priorities of the individual persons can be found on the respective person pages and the list of publications on our homepage. Below you will find a selection of qualification papers submitted to us that can serve as inspiration.
It is imperative that you contact us at least eight weeks before the planned official registration via this Formula (if you are studying in Denmark, please note the deadlines below). A supervisor is assigned according to the main topic and available capacities. In principle, support can therefore only be provided subject to the availability of human resources. If you have already contacted someone, you can note this on the form.
Experience has shown that the specification and concrete formulation of your first idea through to the finished topic is the most demanding part of your qualification work, which takes place in the eight weeks up to the official registration. This step is carried out in cooperation with your future supervisor, see also "How does the supervision work?" below.

Bachelor's theses of both study regulations and master's theses of German study regulations can also be supervised by the scientific staff of the professorship. According to the examination regulations, however, one of the two reviewers must come from the group of university teachers. You are responsible for organizing supervision by a second examiner and this should be done in consultation with your first examiner.
Master theses of the cand.merc.int. must be supervised by a professor.
In principle, you can only register your work in our department once you have presented your chosen topic as part of a thesis colloquium.
German examination regulations: You officially register your work with the examination office as soon as the topic, objectives, structure and procedure of the work have been sufficiently specified and agreed with your supervisor. Please inquire about the formal requirements at the examination office.
Danish examination regulations: The registration deadlines for qualification papers are set by the SDU and are not variable. For more information, please contact the Danish secretariat.
For bachelor's and master's students, colloquia are held at the professorship as required.
For all Bachelor students (PO 2017 and PO 2021) and for all Master students (PO 2017 and 2021) the presentation of the work in a colloquium is mandatory and an integral part of the qualification work. The work can only be registered after the selected topic has been presented in the colloquium.
The dates of the colloquia are coordinated via a Moodle course (to be found under Colloquium PundO). The enrollment code for the Moodle course is "KolloquiumPundO".
