Special education in the field of learning is the area of special education with the largest target group of students in Germany.
Based on a strong theoretical-practical focus in our department, concepts and models are developed with the aim of describing, explaining and (preventively) predicting learning disorders and learning difficulties among students. This provides the basis for developing and evaluating diagnostic procedures, teaching methods and strategies. The aim in research, teaching and transfer is to establish a basis on which strategic decisions can be made and effectively implemented in schools and lessons.
An important element: practical support
During the first and second semesters of the MA Ed. we work in close cooperation with primary and community schools in small seminar groups in the school. Supported by intense preparation, advice and accompanying seminar work, the aim is to plan and implement support in the areas of literacy acquisition and mathematics, building on the basic knowledge from the BA course. The importance of theory and empiricism becomes visible in practice.
Basic knowledge becomes secure skills in the diagnosis and support of pupils with learning difficulties.
