Strategy and organisation for large but also small companies can no longer be dealt with exclusively from a national or even regional perspective. More and more, dealing with companies requires thinking internationally. The professorship takes this into account by cultivating a number of international cooperations and activities in research and teaching.

Motivated by the need to gain deeper insights into the risks and opportunities associated with increasing globalization, Prof. Royer launched the 'International Journal of Globalization and Small Business (IJGSB)', an international journal that takes into account the developments outlined above. The professorship is also internationally involved in a network of researchers from other universities. An essential aspect of the international orientation is the regular presentation and discussion of the own research results at (international) conferences.

The professorship is involved in the region in many ways, both in Flensburg and the German-Danish borderland. As chair of the award committee of the 'Dr. Hans Adolf Rossen Prize', awarded by the Pressestiftung Flensburg, Prof. Dr. Susanne Royer is committed to improving the visibility of excellent theses written at Flensburg's universities. Since 2009, the 'Dr. Hans Adolf Rossen Prize' is awarded to outstanding scientific theses written by students at Flensburg's universities (Europa-Universität Flensburg and Flensburg University of Applied Sciences) in the fields of business and technology.

In our research, we deal with topics in the area of organizational design or strategy development or at their interface. In doing so, the embedding of entrepreneurial activities in an international context is intensively taken into account.
