At the Institute of Frisian Studies and Minority Research, we focus on teaching and researching the language, literature, history, and culture of Frisia, with a particular emphasis on North Frisia. Our areas of expertise are both historical and modern, with experts working on structural linguistics, sociolinguistics, and the socio-cultural history of comparative minority studies, especially since 1800. Beyond this, the practical teaching of North Frisian plays a central role in almost all of our courses and activities.
