Optimistic About Spring Semester 2022
Flensburg, February 17, 2022. Spring Semester 2022 at Europa-Universität Flensburg will take place as a normal, in-person semester. Starting on March 14, 2022, when the new lecture period opens, classes will be held face-to-face on the EUF campus. "The Executive University Board has made this decision in line with the current assessments and urgent recommendations of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture," explained Prof. Dr. Werner Reinhart, President of Europa-Universität Flensburg.
As was the case this past semester, in Spring Semester 2022 some exceptions will again be granted for international degree programs. Programs with a many international students (EUCS, EUS, EUM and KSM) who cannot travel due to the pandemic will be allowed to offer digital or hybrid courses (courses attended by local students in person on campus, while external students attend remotely online). In the latter case, hybrid courses will be supported within the scope of what is technically possible. This regulation primarily affects the bachelor's degree program in European Cultures and Society and the master's degree programs in European Studies, Energy and Environmental Management, and Culture - Language – Media.
The university will continuously monitor and evaluate the infection numbers, hospitalization rates, and other parameters to assess the pandemic situation. "Of course, we reserve the right to adjust our decision," Reinhart emphasized. "Should it prove impossible to hold in-person classes due to unexpected developments in the Corona infection situation, we will return to online teaching formats for a defined period of time, if necessary. Nevertheless, we’re optimistic about the upcoming spring semester."
Europa-Universität Flensburg has adapted its semester times to fit with the international calendar. The university lecture period for Spring Semester 2022 officially opens on March 14 and ends on July 8, 2022.
