Special Educational Needs (in regular Schools) – Train the Teacher Trainer (SEN-T3)
The aim of the project is to generate skills in the field of special education and inclusion for teachers at the Iraqi partner universities (Mosul, Kufa, Garmian, Dohuk and Zakho). Current content for the implementation of inclusion in schools is to be increasingly integrated into courses at Iraqi universities.
Teachers will deal in depth with relevant content and transfer the content to their own region, their own university and their own teaching. The work is highly participative and cooperative. A digital and inclusive learning platform is supplemented and further developed with collaborative elements so that it can be used in teaching in Iraq. In addition, these elements are also being tested in small projects by students from the Iraqi partner universities in cooperation with schools and teachers in the regions in heterogeneous classes.
These project experiences can then be reflected upon in the students' courses.

Key facts
Description
The aim of the project is to generate skills in the field of special education and inclusion (topics: Differentiated examination of various special educational support needs and their methodological and didactic requirements in schools and lessons, learning and behavioral development diagnostics/identification of specific needs, prevention and (special) educational intervention for various support needs, concepts of inclusion, classroom management, teaching in heterogeneous learning groups, counseling) for the teachers of the Iraqi partner universities (Mosul, Kufa, Garmian, Dohuk and Zakho) and thus in the long term for the students of the general teaching profession in primary and secondary education. Relevant and up-to-date content for the implementation of inclusion in the school sector is to be increasingly introduced into courses at Iraqi universities. Existing modules, which are rarely inclusive in terms of didactics and content, are to be enriched and updated in relation to the region's teacher training needs. Teachers will receive further training (Winter School 2023, digital events, etc.) and deal with relevant content in detail. They then apply the content to their own region, their own university and their own teaching. To this end, the work between Germany and Iraq is very participatory and cooperative, as is the work between the Iraqi universities. The digital and inclusive learning platform LAYA is being supplemented and further developed with collaborative elements so that it can be used in teaching for future primary and secondary school teachers in Iraq. In addition to the development and implementation of collaborative elements in LAYA for university teaching, these elements will also be tested in small projects by students from the Iraqi partner universities in cooperation with schools and teachers in the regions in heterogeneous classes. These project experiences can in turn be reflected upon in the students' courses.
