ICES understands transfer as a broad, research-based exchange process that encompasses cooperation and dialogue between academics in research and teaching with stakeholders from society, culture, education, politics and business. For us, transfer is a mutual process of exchange. Scientific findings are not only passed on or communicated to the outside world, but also further developed together with stakeholders outside the university and new knowledge is integrated. We also recognise the crucial role of science communication, which we see as a complementary element to science transfer.
Our transfer strategy illustrates how research-based transfer in the context of European challenges is promoted by ICES and can be further expanded. For example, comprehensive counselling and support services increase the chances of success for project applications, which in turn enables more transfer projects and the expansion of a network of non-academic partners. Targeted training and practical support in the implementation of transfer projects should also be emphasised, which promotes career development for early stage researchers and the effective implementation of transfer projects. However, a sustainable expansion of support structures and the associated achievement of our goals will only be possible if more human resources are available. This would enable us to effectively strengthen the visibility, cooperation and further development of socio-politically highly relevant research in the long term and to enhance the University's unique cross-focus profile - "Europe-Education-Sustainability".
