Social and educational economics was established in the Europa-Universtät Flensburg in 2010. Although relatively new to this Univeristy, the increasing need for an understanding of this field is reflected in the growth of the field on a national and international level. Thematically, it incorporates events and courses for those studying in the IIM and the educational sciences. In accordance with the duality, the courses’ perspectives cover not just research and educational methods in respect of the economic and educational innovation but also the transitional economic dealings from the social dimension.
Tertiary education and research remains a core focus of the work. Gerd Grözinger is not just initiator but also speaker for the interdisciplinarian doctoral colleagues "Verantwortlich Hochschule" (responsible tertiary education).
