Basic protection: What is the university already doing to protect you and itself?

We use a variety of security measures to protect our university members and network from unwanted threats.

These include specialized systems that detect and filter malicious emails, as well as protective mechanisms that prevent dangerous websites from being accessed. In addition, we use advanced technologies to protect our network and devices from viruses, other malware, and coordinated attacks.

We also place a high value on the secure configuration of our individual computers, which means that not every software or application can be installed. This may occasionally cause inconvenience, but it is an important step in ensuring security.

In addition, we have registered numerous typo domains in addition to uni-flensburg.de, which may sound similar or contain typing errors. This helps to avoid accidental misclicks (e.g. on uni-flesnburg.de) and provides an additional layer of security against phishing attempts.

All university members receive the security software Sophos Home Premium (students | employees) for private computers and mobile devices free of charge.

But one thing remains: however strong the technical security measures may be, you are the soft target that cybercriminals are after. - Therefore, your constant vigilance is required!
