DAAD Prize 2024 awarded to Marta Wiktoria Gontarz (EUCS-Alumni)
Outstanding international students honoured at the EUF
The Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) has honored Marta Wiktoria Gontarz with the prestigious DAAD Prize 2024. The DAAD prize is awarded annually to international students for outstanding academic achievements and remarkable social commitment. Marta Gontarz, who recently completed her Bachelor's degree in "European Cultures and Society", impressed the jury with her exceptional academic achievements and her energetic commitment to the student community.
"It is a great pleasure to honor Marta for her exceptional achievements," said Dr Isabella Tegethoff, Head of European and International Affairs, who presented the prestigious award to Marta Gontarz during the Intercultural and Diversity Celebration at the Europa-Universität Flensburg. "She is not only an outstanding student, but also an inspiring personality who enriches the university and society through her commitment."
Marta Wiktoria Gontarz began her studies at the EUF in 2020 under the difficult conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, she took on responsibility early on and organized virtual meetings to promote cohesion among her cohort. After arriving in Flensburg, she became involved in various student committees, including the student council of her degree program (Fachschaft) and the Local Erasmus Initiative (LEI), which she recently chaired. Her student contribution to the internationalization of the university is particularly noteworthy, said Tegethoff in her laudatory speech. Marta Gontarz not only represented her Bachelor's program in online formats for partner universities; she also inspired students to consider studying abroad with a Polish information stand during Europe Week 2023 and her involvement with LEI. "The fact that Ms Gontarz's engagement is so time-consuming and that she was also able to complete her studies successfully and with excellent grades is remarkable," said Tegethoff.
When asked how she manages her many activities, Marta Wiktoria Gontarz says succinctly: "I just do it!" She enjoys working with people and helping people. That's what drives her. Incidentally, Marta Gontarz will continue her academic career at the EUF, as she has enrolled on the Master's degree program KSM - Culture - Language - Media..
