Intercultural and Diversity Celebration

Today, 15.10.2024, the Europa-Universität Flensburg, together with the Hochschule Flensburg and the city of Flensburg, celebrated the Intercultural Day of Diversity with a fantastic event!

The celebrations kicked off with a colorful diversity parade through the Flensburg Campus in the morning, followed by a lively event called Windows to the World. Students from all corners of the world came together to celebrate their cultures and traditions, making this event truly special. There was a fantastic display of cultures and traditions from all over the globe, with students sharing their national dishes, songs, games and more. It was a wonderful celebration of the diverse student body that makes the campus so vibrant every day.

In the afternoon, the DAAD award for the outstanding international student at the Europa-Universität Flensburg was awarded to the recently graduated Marta Gontarz, alumni of the B.A. European Cultures and Society (EUCS). Marta is currently continuing her studies at the M.A. KSM – Kultur – Sprache – Medien, and we can't wait to see where her achievements will take her next! The Speaker for Europe and International Affairs of the Europa-Universität Flensburg, Dr. Isabella Tegethoff, was thrilled to announce that the student was the deserving recipient of this year’s award. Not only did she excel academically, but she also made invaluable contributions to the university through her voluntary engagement. Currently, she serves as the president of the Local Erasmus Initiative (LEI) and has been a driving force in many other initiatives. This fantastic award comes with a cash prize of 1.000 EUR, a wonderful gesture of gratitude for her incredible dedication.

We are absolutely delighted to congratulate this year's award recipient! We wish her all the best in her future academic and social endeavors in Flensburg.

After the DAAD award was handed out, everyone was treated to a bilingual song and a short cultural story. These performances showcased the amazing diversity on campus and were a great way to demonstrate the richness of our community. Then, students and visitors returned to their cultural representations under the motto Windows to the World to continue the fantastic exchange that had been going on all day!
