Elections for the European Parliament take place every five years. This year they are particularly important because the EU is in crisis and its cohesion is at stake. The European elections and the results of the elections in some EU member states will show whether anti-European, right-wing populist forces are still on the rise - or whether it will be possible to defend European values.
