FIT: Promoting the Integration of International Talent into Higher Education and the Job Market

Overview

FIT-PleaseRemoveIncludingDashes-@EUF promotes the integration of talented international students into higher education and the job market. Europa-University Flensburg has secured approximately 1.1 million euros for this initiative, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the International Experts Campus Initiative of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Objectives

Project FIT@EUF aims to attract international students to earn a university degree in Germany, support and guide them through to graduation, prepare them for their careers, and connect them with future employers. In so doing, the project addresses the challenges posed by demographic change and the resulting shortage of skilled workers in Germany and the region.

FIT@EUF pursues the following objectives:

  1. To increase the number of international student enrollments
  2. To ensure academic success
  3. To enhance employability
  4. To strengthen networks with the job market

Modules

The project consists of four modules, all geared towards the need for high-quality support and training:

  1. FITforEUF establishes a stakeholder forum and implements measures to support students during their application process, as well as before and after their arrival in Germany.
  2. FITforSTUDY provides academic support tutorials and additional German language courses to help students improve their language skills.
  3. FITforWORK offers training courses to prepare students to enter the German job market. It also develops and implements a wide range of informational resources.
  4. FITforNETWORK focuses on networking EUF's German and international students with key actors from business, politics, public service, and the cultural and educational sectors.
