DLD Awareness Day | Raising Awareness for Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Foyer des Gebäudes Helsinki
The Department of Speech and Language Education is hosting a week of activities for DLD Awareness Day from Oct. 16 to Oct. 20, 2023, with a variety of offerings. Today there will be an info and quiz booth on Developmental Language Disorders (DLD). All interested parties are invited to attend!
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is one of the most common developmental disorders in childhood and results in difficulties with language comprehension and speech. In a class of 30 students, on average 2 children are affected by DLD. Despite this, DLD often remains undetected, which can have an impact on the educational and professional development of the students as well as their social and societal participation.
For the past 6 years, the international DLD Awareness Day has been held once a year in October to raise awareness of DLD through various activities.
