On the occasion of DLD Awareness Day, the Department of Pedagogy for Language and Communication Impairments (PSK) is sharing information, campaigns and interesting facts about DLD via the Instagram account @psk_euf.

The international DLD Awareness Day has been held once a year in October for 7 years to draw attention to DLD and raise awareness of it.

Developmental Language Disorders are among the most common developmental disorders in childhood. In a school class of 30 pupils, an average of two children are affected by developmental language disorders! DLD manifests itself in difficulties with language comprehension and the production of language. Language development disorders often go hand in hand with learning difficulties and socio-emotional impairments. Despite this, DLD often remains undetected, which has a negative impact on pupils' educational and professional development as well as their social and societal participation.
