RIG 601
The first lecture in the ICES Research Colloquium will be given today Prof. Dr. Daniel Naurin (University of Oslo, Professor of Political Science /Former Director at ARENA) on the topic "Identifying the precedential value of case law - a machine learning approach".
The ICES Research Colloquium offers a platform for ICES members and colleagues to present their research and discuss it interdisciplinary. The sessions will be chaired by Prof. Monika Eismüller.
The talk presents a new empirical approach to identifying court driven legal change, by studying court citations to previous case law. It focuses on the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). Besides contributing to academic research on legal change our project aims at developing better tools for judges and practicing lawyers when deciding which cases to rely on.
