The first lecture of the Wasatia Summer lecture  will be given today Prof. Dr. Motaz Qafiesheh (Hebron University Palestine) on the topic "Transitional Justice as an approach to the Middle east Comprehensive Peace".   

The European Wasatia Graduate School for Peace and Conflict Resolution & ICES at Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) invites you to an insightful lecture on "Transitional Justice as an Approach to the Middle East Comprehensive Peace." This lecture will explore the role of transitional justice in addressing historical grievances, fostering reconciliation, and building a sustainable peace framework in the region. Drawing from global case studies such as South Africa, the Balkans, and Latin America, the discussion will examine truth commissions, reparations, legal accountability, and institutional reforms as essential tools for post-conflict societies. The event will highlight both the challenges and opportunities of implementing transitional justice in the Middle East and its potential contribution to a long-term peace process. 

The Wasatia/ICES Summer Lectures at Europa-Universität Flensburg bring together leading scholars from across the globe to explore the intersections of justice, reconciliation, and peace-building. Covering critical themes such as transitional justice, regime change, civil society’s role in peace promotion, and the legacy of state surveillance, this series fosters a deeper understanding of historical injustices and their modern implications. Experts from Germany, Palestine, Israel, and South Africa will share insights on confronting systemic oppression, addressing legal and moral responsibilities, and fostering dialogue between divided communities.
