‘The Normalization Process Between Israel and Arab Countries Amidst the Gaza Conflict and Global Geopolitical Shifts’

About the Speaker: 
Dr. Nir Levitan is a distinguished lecturer and research fellow whose work focuses on negotiations, diplomacy, and the politics of Scandinavia and the Middle East. He is the author of 'Scandinavian Diplomacy and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict' and is affiliated with leading research institutes in Israel and Denmark.

Lecture Abstract: 
Dr. Levitan’s lecture will delve into the evolving normalization process between Israel and several Arab countries, including the potential agreement with Saudi Arabia, within the context of the Gaza conflict and significant global geopolitical changes. Through an analysis of historical treaties such as the Camp David Accords, Oslo Accords, and the Abraham Accords, the lecture will explore how diplomatic efforts have shaped Arab-Israeli relations. Key themes will include the strategic motivations behind these efforts, the influence of different U.S. administrations, and the broader impact on regional stability and international politics. 

The ongoing conflict in Gaza adds complexity to the normalization process, but also emphasizes the potential benefits of diplomatic engagement, particularly regarding security and economic cooperation. The session will provide valuable insights into the complex interplay of local and global dynamics that continue to influence the pursuit of peace in the Middle East.
